People have started to write letters long time ago, at that time, they used to pay the delivery guy after they received the letter. It cost a lot to pay for the delivery, and often the poor couldn’t afford it.
In the UK, a young lady returned her letter each time after she took a quick look at the envelop. She would always told the delivery guy, please return this letter as I cannot afford it.
Her neighbor wondered what was going on and asked her. She told her neighbour that she had already known the content of the letters. She has agreed with her brother, they would make a mark on the envelop if everything was fine. In this way, she wouldn’t have to pay for the delivery.
After hearing this story, her neighbor started to search for a solution, soon he invented a stamp, which was the very first in the world.
