For Chinese, 8 is the lucky number, as its sound resembles another Chinese word which means to be prosperous.  4, on the other hand, is seen as the bad number. It has a similar pronunciation as  how we say death in Chinese. So 4 to Chinese is like 13 to Europeans.

Beijing (Běijīng 北京) is the capital of China, the center of the nation’s politics, culture and international exchanges. It is one of the six ancient cities in China and had served as the capital for the dynasties such as Jin (1115 AD – 1234 AD), Yuan (1279 AD -1368 AD), Ming (1368 AD -1644 A D) and Qin (1644 AD – 1911 AD). There are 7 main dialects spoken in China. Mandarin, the only official language, is based on the speech in the capital Beijing. It’s also called Pŭtōnghuà, meaning the common language (普通話).
